LunarLab Wins the 2026 Governor’s Trade Excellence Award for International Design Work

We’ve got some exciting news to share! LunarLab has been recognized with Alabama’s 2026 Governor’s Trade Excellence Award. Governor Kay Ivey honored six Alabama companies for their international impact, and we are proud to stand among them.

What the Governor's Trade Excellence Award Recognizes

The Governor’s Trade Excellence Award celebrates Alabama companies making a mark in global markets. This year’s honorees span aerospace, agriculture, and technology. LunarLab was the only software company, and the only woman-owned company on the list. In her remarks, Governor Ivey pointed to aerospace engineering, sustainable agriculture, and AI innovation as examples of what Alabama companies bring to the world. Commerce Secretary Ellen McNair described the winners as role models for how Alabama companies compete and thrive against global competition.

For us, the recognition points to something we care deeply about. We want to do excellent work for our clients wherever they are, and represent Birmingham well while we do it.

The Work Behind the Award

Over the past few years, we’ve partnered with companies across Canada and the United Kingdom to design and build digital products people want to use. That work includes UX design, UI design, AI products, website design, website development, and custom software development.

Our international clients come from a range of industries, including energy, fintech and financial software, and personal productivity, among others. These are different sectors with different challenges, and we bring the same standard to all of them. We start with research, design with intention, and build products that help our clients grow.

Alabama's Export Economy Is Growing

We’re honored to be part of a much bigger story. In 2025, Alabama companies exported a combined $23.7 billion in goods and services, reaching 190 countries. That’s nearly a 14 percent increase over 2019.

Governor Ivey said these exporters “show the world the depths of Alabama’s ability and ingenuity.” We take that to heart. Software and design services reach global markets the same way aerospace components and agricultural products do, carrying the same Made in Alabama standard of quality.

What This Means for Our Clients

An award like this is third-party proof of something our clients already know. When you work with LunarLab, you’re working with a team trusted by companies on two continents to deliver design and development at the highest level.

We built LunarLab to be the kind of partner that gets the details right, communicates clearly, and ships products that drive real results. Recognition from the state of Alabama tells us we’re doing exactly that, and it pushes us to keep raising the bar for every client we serve.
