Benechek is creating a brand new SaaS platform that provides nonprofits with a smarter way to streamline their vetting process, allowing nonprofits to focus on their mission without getting bogged down by time-consuming and inefficient vetting processes.
Benechek needed help thinking through a complex onboarding process for nonprofits signing up for their product. Through the Birmingham Business Alliance’s Supplier Scale program, we were able to provide design services to the small businesses in their cohort to help them achieve vital business goals.

Benechek had several goals that they needed help achieving:
- create a simple, mobile-friendly design for people requesting help or assistance from a nonprofit
- make the process for setting up a nonprofit’s vetting process quick and easy
- identify opportunities to leverage AI in the future
To achieve these goals, we created a user journey that outlined the various steps someone requesting assistance would need to complete in order for the nonprofit to gather the information needed to make their decision. We also created a user journey for the nonprofit who needs to set up their vetting process. A major pain point for nonprofits is that their vetting processes are mainly conducted in person using paper forms and a manual process. The process is lengthy and requires gathering contact details, setting an in-person appointment, then a follow up phone call to inform the requestor of the decision. We then translated those user journeys into wireframes that will be used to guide the development team creating Benechek’s custom web application.
