KnowBra is a bra education and fitting resource that helps people find the right fit with confidence. Through clear guides, personalized support, and empowering tools, KnowBra makes bra shopping simpler, more comfortable, and less stressful.
KnowBra specializes in care for people who have had breast surgery, including mastectomies and lumpectomies. Their fitters help patients feel heard and supported during a difficult time in their lives, and they guide each patient to a bra that supports their body, their medical needs, and their everyday comfort.
KnowBra partnered with LunarLab to design and build an AI healthcare app prototype that gives their fitters a faster way to match each patient with the right products. The goal was a tool that considers fit and medical needs alongside lifestyle and budget, so every patient leaves with options that work for them.

There are hundreds of thousands of bras on the market. For someone recovering from breast surgery, that many choices can feel overwhelming at a moment when they already have a lot on their mind.
A great fitting depends on many factors at once. A fitter has to weigh correct size and fit, medical needs, skin and fabric sensitivities, style preferences, daily activities, and budget, all while keeping the patient comfortable and involved in the decision. Most shopping filters stop at size, color, and price, which leaves fitters doing the hardest part of the search by memory and by hand.
KnowBra saw an opportunity to give their fitters a tool built for this exact work. When a fitter can find the right products quickly, they can spend more of the appointment where it matters most: listening to the patient and helping them feel confident in their choices.
An AI tool is only as helpful as the data behind it. Identifying the right information architecture for the product database was the most important early decision in this project, and it shaped everything that followed.
We defined how every product in the database would be described so the AI could match it against the things patients care about. Each bra is organized by attributes that reflect how a skilled fitter thinks, including:
With this structure in place, fitters can search in plain terms and get results that reflect the whole person. It also gives KnowBra a scalable foundation they can grow as new products enter the market.
This is where our product strategy and UX design expertise pays off for clients. Getting the structure right early protects the investment in everything built on top of it.

We designed and built a working, AI-powered prototype connected to a database of real products. Fitters can search by size, color, and budget, and they can go much further with lifestyle preferences, medical needs, sensitivities, style preferences, and more.
The experience follows the natural flow of a fitting appointment:
Every step keeps the patient part of the conversation. The fitter brings expertise, the AI handles the heavy lifting of the search, and the patient gets to choose from options that fit their body, their needs, and their life.
Patient privacy is critical for any product in the healthcare space, and we treated it as a core requirement from the start. The prototype collects no patient names, contact details, or other identifying information.
Fitters get everything they need to find the right products and build a report, and patients can trust that their personal information stays protected. This privacy-first approach also gives KnowBra a strong, responsible starting point as the product moves toward a full build.
KnowBra now has a working AI healthcare app prototype that runs on real product data. Their team can see, test, and demonstrate exactly how the tool supports a fitting, from the first search to the final report.
The prototype gives KnowBra:
A working prototype lets a business validate an AI product with real data before committing to a full build. It reduces risk, sharpens priorities, and gives stakeholders and investors something real to react to.
Usage metrics and patient feedback were not available when this case study was prepared, so no quantitative outcomes are claimed here.
