UX & UI design
XO Stats goals for their new mobile app were to:
- Be first to market with a replacement or launch within 3 months of a new competitor
- Create a testable, functioning product that a small group of real coaches could use to log games and review stat reports
- Make adjustments to logging and reporting as necessary to get the optimal flow before commercializing
Utilizing a robust design system, we created seamless, intuitive flows for entering stats on a play-by-play basis. Reusing design system components leads to faster development time and increased usability for the app. Coaches entering stats become familiar with the interactions quickly, which reduces the cognitive load required to track each play.
We designed the app to be utilized one-handed. Coaches on the sidelines are managing a lot of equipment: headsets, clipboards, pens, whistles, water bottles, towels, etc. Multi-tasking is paramount, so we wanted to make the app as easy to use with one hand as possible.
