Become a Data Analyst, a startup dedicated to providing a high-quality boot camp for data analysts, recognized a need for a more impactful and functional website to promote Data Analysis as a career choice. This project entailed the design of three main web pages, with the central goal of addressing the needs of two main personas: individuals curious about becoming data analysts, and companies looking to hire data analysts.

Design and Product Strategy Workshop

We kickstarted the project with a discovery workshop, where we discussed key aspects of the project including:

  • Problem Statement
  • Competitive Landscape
  • Market Differentiators
  • Success Metrics
  • Design Targets
  • User Journey Map

After defining the objectives, we determined the necessary features for the website to promote Data Analysis as a career, and how it could provide value to businesses.

For Interested Individuals

First was the home page, which focused on educating people who are interested in becoming data analysts. Some of the sections we designed included:

  • An introduction to the data analyst role, highlighting what was involved in the career
  • Showcasing what a student could expect from the boot camp
  • Highlighting testimonials, giving social proof of past students in the bootcamp
  • Frequently asked questions, allowing interested individuals to learn more without reaching out

Everything designed on the home page accomplished the goal of educating and increasing interest in data analyst as a career choice. 

For Businesses

Next, we focused on the business page, which helped businesses understand why to hire a data analyst. Our content emphasized:

  • Why hiring a data analyst makes sense from a business perspective, highlighting some of the things they can do
  • How to pick from the right bootcamps, since there are different types and quality may vary
  • Who to hire and how to find them, gently coaching hiring managers how to craft good job descriptions and finding successful hires
  • The fields that can benefit from hiring a data analyst, which is much broader than a business owner might expect

Everything on this page was designed to accomplish the goal of educating business owners of the value a data analyst can bring to an organization. 

Learning Center

The last page we designed was a learning center, which allowed interested individuals to preview some of the content found in the bootcamp. This included free workshops, documents, and articles that allowed an interested user to have a better idea if the bootcamp was right for them. 

Leveraging AI for Copywriting

In an innovative move to enhance the design process, we leveraged AI tools to generate sample copy for each section. This approach created more realistic and relatable content compared to traditional placeholders like Lorem ipsum, making the design more user-friendly and engaging. As a result, our client felt that the designs were very close to their vision on our first review!

Conclusion

Through our targeted UX & UI design strategies and innovative use of AI for copywriting, Become a Data Analyst’s website was successful in catering to its two main user personas. The result is a website that informs potential data analysts about the career path, while also demonstrating the value data analysts bring to companies considering hiring them. The addition of a sampling feature for the learning platform further enhances the website’s appeal, giving potential users a taste of Become a Data Analyst’s offerings and improving their likelihood to commit to the boot camp.
