Discovery

NBNKC had several goals that they needed help achieving:

  • create paths through the website to better guide customers to what they’re looking for
  • increase the visibility of NBNKC’s catering and fundraising offerings
  • improve the current e-commerce experience

To achieve these goals, we audited the current website and identified key areas of improvement:

  • the site had plenty of content, but it wasn’t structured in a way that was easy to navigate
  • the current navigation options didn’t display the most important products and services
  • it was very difficult to place an order online, resulting in potential lost sales
  • it was hard to tell what buying options existed for people who came to the site ready to purchase

Design

We created an all new site map that improves the information architecture of the site. Under the Shop tab, we introduced a new mega menu that features all of the fantastic flavors NBNKC offers and highlighted gifts and merchandise that are available for purchase. We created new navigation menu items for Catering and Fundraising, rather than using branded terms like “Pop Services”. Newcomers to the website are looking for terms that are familiar to them, like “catering” and “fundraising”, so it’s important to match the language with people’s expectations. This ensures customers can easily find what they’re looking for the moment they land on the website.

We also completely redesigned the homepage to prominently feature their unique flavors, and also highlight the various services NBNKC offers.

We created new product pages from scratch. The current e-commerce products are categorized first by size then by flavor, which prevents customers from easily shopping by flavor. The flavors are enticing, so we flipped the product structure upside down, which allows customers to first select the flavor they’re interested in, then select the size they want. This allows the Shop page to display the flavors more prominently.
